Tips to Start Training Your Puppy
Most dog owners I see for in-home consultations and training come to me for help with adult dogs. While some behavioral problems do suddenly appear during adulthood, and I’m happy and able to help at any stage of life, I often find the more grievous issues could have been avoided if the owners had enrolled their dog in puppy training. Of course, this isn’t always possible. Some owners adopt their dogs as adults and other dogs, as previously mentioned, may be angels as puppies so training is never seen as necessary.
If you are adopting a puppy, I recommend treating puppy training as a necessity, no matter what. If you’re having a kid, chances are you’ll take a couple of parenting classes. So as you pick out the perfect puppy, a leash, a collar, food bowls, etc., pick out the perfect trainer as well. If you live in the Baltimore area, give me a call. If you live outside of the Baltimore area, give Canine Trade Group a call. They’ll be able to get you in touch with a superb trainer in your area.
Puppy training will set the foundation for the entirety of your relationship with your dog, and you want to make sure that foundation is strong and stable. I’ll help you establish boundaries, teach you effective communication skills, and show you how to nurture a rapport of trust and respect between you and your puppy. Achieving these goals early on will make it easier to keep them down the road, when and if your puppy decides to get a little feisty. Instead of experiencing frustration and panic if your dog refuses to house train, exhibits signs of aggression, or begins experiencing separation anxiety, you’ll know exactly how to handle it.
My in-home puppy training Baltimore program will educate you, ease your mind, and set you up for a lifetime of successful dog ownership. To get started, give me a call at 410.844.6611 or send me an e-mail through this website.
